DB4O is an open-source, object-oriented database. Not only does it completely reduce develoment time, but also allows an improvement in the data access performance, in certain business domains.

The model is saved in a representation that allows to browse and load objects in memory, in a more efficient way. In those cases that the data structures are very complex, an object-oriented database could be up to 1000 times more efficient than a relational database.
